Each chalet at Nyala is thoughtfully designed as a calm and restorative space. Beautifully fitted with Egyptian cotton linen and tie-back mosquito nets, the rooms invite a deep sense of rest after days spent exploring the bush. Earthy tones and pale wood finishes create a sense of harmony, while designer en-suite bathrooms feature both indoor and outdoor showers for bathing beneath open skies.
Four of the five chalets also include deep bathtubs, adding an extra layer of indulgence to the safari experience. From private patios, guests can enjoy views over the bushveld, garden, or river, surrounded by the serenity of nature.
Chalet 1: This intimate chalet faces the riverbed and has a queen size bed. This is a garden chalet with a freestanding bath and is ideal for couples or honeymooners.
Chalet 2: This is a large luxury chalet that sleeps two people on a king size bed, with ample room for a child’s bed if necessary. It is situated in the main garden of the lodge under the canopy of a magnificent leopard tree, with a huge cycad plant next to its veranda. Very Spacious and relaxing.
Chalet 3: Set back amongst the aloe and tall Fever Trees, this chalet is slightly raised and overlooks the bushveld and beautiful green garden. It sleeps two people in Twin beds (easily converts to a king size) There is ample room for an extra bed. A large luxury chalet that suits all guests and especially popular for families with 3 children / groups of 3 friends travelling together due to its spaciousness.
Chalet 4: This chalet is set back a little from the lodge pool area and boasts peaceful open bush views with regular bush buck wandering by. It sleeps two people in a King size bed (easily converted into twin beds). A short 30m stroll to the pool and dining area makes this a quiet yet popular chalet.
Chalet 5: Nestled beside the rim-flow pool, Chalet 5 features a unique layout with two showers, including a quirky outdoor shower shared with a beautiful Appelblaar tree, offering a refreshing indoor/outdoor experience year-round. As the tree forms part of the bathroom design, the chalet does not include a bath. Overlooking the bushveld yet peaceful and relaxing, the chalet is often visited by our resident bushbuck and is conveniently close to the dining area. It accommodates two guests in twin beds convertible to a king-size, with space for an additional bed.
Hoedspruit is the closest safari hub to Nyala Safari Lodge and is a buzzing mecca of all things safari. The Balule Nature Reserve is one of many Big 5 reserves served by the Hoedspruit-Eastgate Airport and is easily accessible for guests flying in or arriving by scheduled road transfers.
Resting comfortably on the banks of the Mohlabetsi River in the Balule Nature Reserve, not far from Hoedspruit, is where you’ll find Nyala Safari Lodge. The Balule is an uncrowded reserve in the Greater Kruger, making it a sought-after destination in the area.
There’s an entrance gate to the reserve where self-drivers can leave their cars. A guide will meet you and transfer you to the lodge. It’s not uncommon to see the Big 5 before reaching your destination.
